Performances, Concerts, Eisteddfods & Competitions

At Yue Dance Academy, we believe that performance is a vital part of every dancer's development. It allows students to showcase their skills, gain confidence, and experience the joy of being on stage.

We proudly offer a range of performance opportunities throughout the year, including:

  • Annual End-of-Year Concert

    A highlight of the Yue Dance Academy calendar, our Annual End-of-Year Concert brings together students of all ages and levels in a professionally staged production at the beautiful QUT Gardens Theatre.

    Held in early October, this special event celebrates the hard work, dedication and achievements of our dancers throughout the year. It provides a wonderful opportunity for students to experience the excitement of performing on a professional stage, while families and friends come together to celebrate their growth, confidence and artistry.

  • Selected students are invited to participate in local and regional eisteddfods, either as soloists or in groups, across styles such as ballet, contemporary, jazz and lyrical.

    • Students involved in eisteddfods are required to attend additional competition group classes or take private/semi-private lessons for appropriate preparation.

    • These groups compete in Terms 2 and 3 at local eisteddfod events.

  • For our more experienced and dedicated dancers, we provide tailored coaching and support for entry into national ballet competitions. Participation is by selection only and is designed to challenge and inspire students aspiring to advanced or pre-professional pathways.

  • We also aim to perform at community festivals and special showcases throughout the year, offering students more opportunities to perform and share their love of dance with the wider public.

  • Eisteddfods, Competitions & Performance Troupes

    Participation in eisteddfods and competitions at Yue Dance Academy is by invitation or audition. Students are selected based on their technical ability, commitment, attitude, teamwork and readiness for performance.

    To ensure all troupe members have the necessary technical foundation and are progressing consistently, students must be enrolled in the following classes to be considered for selection:

    • Ballet Troupe – Students must be attending regular RAD Ballet classes and participating in RAD examination training.

    • Jazz Troupe – Students must be enrolled in both Jazz and Ballet classes to develop the strength, coordination, flexibility and technical foundations required.

    • Contemporary & Lyrical Troupes – Students must be enrolled in both Contemporary and Ballet classes to support their movement quality, technique, control and expressive artistry.

    These requirements ensure that students receive consistent technical training alongside their troupe rehearsals, allowing them to develop safely and perform confidently as part of a team.

    Our experienced teachers and choreographers support students throughout their competition journey, helping them develop not only their technical and performance skills but also resilience, discipline, confidence and teamwork.

    While we celebrate strong results and achievements, our primary focus remains on personal growth, dedication, teamwork and a genuine love for performing. We believe the value of competitions lies not only in the results, but in the learning, friendships and experiences gained along the way.
